Long story short.

I have 2 lap tops in which I don't use. The product key is still intact. I am in the process of building a gaming station. I was wondering if I could just call the manufacture of the lap top and ask for a recovery disk and use the disk on the gaming station along with the laptops product key? Will this work?

After the gaming station is complete How would I go about retrieving the hard drives that were in the lap top? They are older lap tops so I'd say they are PATA. Any ideas?

question 1) No, its specific to your oem laptop only.

question 2) Don't know.

Question 1, the answer is no. The license key can only be used on one machine especially since its an oem license.

Question 2, you would need a 2.5" ide to usb adapter. Get something like one of these.
