XP Pro 64-bit??

I am building a computer for the photo biz, I would like to use 64-bit XP because of the RAM limit on 32-bit XP. Would this hurt any apps? Like Photoshop CS3?

This computer will be mainly used for creating and updating the website, lots and lots of Photoshop CS2 or CS3 and Elem 5.0, and managing the online orders. :D:)

edit: The only reason we aren't using Vista Ultimate x64, is b/c my Aunt's friend really dissed Vista and now they are all Vista haters. :rolleyes: I really put her friend in her place when I told her friend that it wasn't Microsoft's fault, it was mostly the unprepared software and hardware companies who didn't have drivers, I also told her what BETA meant, DUH!!! Ignorant ppl that diss a product just so they can make themselves appear to be 'too good' for the new product and make themselves seem to have more education. Any friggin' idiot should know that when a new OS comes out, the products need to conform to it.

nice man im actually in a similar position only im looking to get my copy of vista ultimate x64 working....i do mostly video editing in premiere and after effects but use cs3 often for things. i tested my copy of adobe production suite in vista 32 bit and am now tryin to get the 64 bit installed and running. i am actually looking to eventually upgrade the the qx6700 hence why i got the mobo i can just drop the cpu into. have you used it yet? if so what type of rendering speed does it have? im sure its rediculous im just currious how rediculous... :cool:

i have known people that run xp x64 and run adobe apps ok. i havent run that specific version myself but i think adobe would have you covered just check for updates via microsoft and adobe if you have problems i would say.
 
Use Vista not XP 64bit, you could throw a XP 64 bit OS at me for free and I would duck to keep it from touching me. If you install XP 64bit they will learn that theres reasons to hate a OS worse than Vista:D

I don't think they are going to touch Vista, our local newspaper painted a bad image of it, by naming all the bugs it had and I recently posted up all of my reasoning for those issues on a blog that is for the paper, none if it reflected upon Microsoft. If I did sway them into buying Vista Ultimate x64, would it run CS3, some Photoshow Gold. I really want to go with XP x64, b/c it consumes less resources but, I can fix that in Vista by turning off some of the GUI options.
 
If your building that high end rig, you will eventually probably want to use DX10 and Microsoft's new "Vista Only" games, right? Because you can't do that with XP.

Because XP Pro x64 was never really popular, alot of small companies dont have drivers available for their products, so dont be surprised if some devices dont work.

It's not for gaming, it is being built for reliability, performance, and to be future proof. I will try to talk her into Vista Ultimate x64, but it will be like 'pulling teeth'.
