xp pro not genuine HELP!

Hi guys, not very good with pcs,
i have a prob with xp pro wont update, was said not genuine i got copy off somebod, in sealed package i loaded it then found was no c.o.a. no attached
any ideas what i can do next?

If they did not give you a valid cd key, call them back ask for a new copy.. Or go get a new one from them. Unless it was an illegal copied version. You will need to repurchase it if thats the case.

Think ive been ripped off, cant find the man now looks like il have to get copy from pc world get ripped off again, any alternatives.

Don't intall the updates. What does the cd look like which you installed with? If it is a genuine MS cd, you might be able to get a cd key out of MS..

A genuine copy should have a sort of a color holographic hue to it. Something along the lines of this (I know its not the right version).

If I read correctly, you said you got it from pc world? If so, you should be able to get a key for it if it infact is genuine. If it isn't, you can contact MS and tell them the story.

If it doesn't, then it is probably a pirated copy.
