ok this might sound a little stupid or pathetic to some but im new to sata
( least thats an excuse)
ive just replaced my ide to a 160g sata, i browsed through the motherboard cd to find the sata drivers but found RAID drivers
in the read me it said to only install these if using 98 98se or me??
taking notice of this read me i installed windows xp pro with sp2 built in to it and alls working fine
so whats the question i hear you shout

do i need to install sata drivers?
can i install them once xp is on the sata drive or do i need to reinstall?
can anyone help me here

No you dont need SATA drivers if you are install it on Win200 or higher. I dont even think you need it for Win98, but its useful.

So no, you dont need to install any SATA drivers. The only time you might need them was to install the OS onto your drive if Windows didnt detect it.

No, SATA 1 or 2 can and should work if the hardware you are using is currently new, and chances are it probably is.

You're fine.
