XP Pro

So I plan to aquire a new 64bit since I have a system that can use it and soon to have 4GB of Ram.

Question is a friend of mine claims there is a straight 32bit version of XP Pro.

I on the other hand was under the impression that it was 64bit only but pointed out software that was 32bit and put it under a "32 bit folder" which it may or may not work depending if it was 16bit.

How far off was I?

I have a 32bit version of vista but I really hate the OS in general. With the new bypass to get DX10 on XP there really isn't a reason to stay with Vista anymore.

XP-Pro came in both 32 and 64 bit. You want the 64-bit if you want to use all 4GB of ram, otherwise 32-bit will only detect about 3.5 (but that is certainly enough right there).

From what I have heard, Vista 32-bit sucks majorly, but if you upgrade to a 64-bit copy, it runs like a dream.

64-Bit Vista is the best, I keep saying it, but I migrated to 64-bit mid last year, and I have not yet ran into 1 compatibility problem.
