XP procuct key change

About a year and a half ago I installed XP on 2 computers, using the same product key, even though I have 2, but it seemed not to matter. Now I'm having problems with this validation thing. Is there a way to change to the legitimate product key without having to buy or reinstall anything? Thanks for your help!

Don't know how you got it to activate on 2 computers. You will have to go out and buy another copy of XP.

Call Microsoft. If you have 2 legit keys as you stated There should not be a problem.

just tell them you made it as an image and tell them thats why it was the same on 2.

Call them, I've done it a few times no problems. Explain the install was a few years back, and now it is telling you the product key is no longer valid. If approved, they will give you a "renewal" key that will fix you up. If they don't approve you, you're stuck with having to get a new copy. An OEM version is cheap these days though...
