XP question

Haya All

Noobish question here bare with me im buliding a computer for my 65 yr old grandmother and all has gone well till i got to installing the OS she said she wanted XP as it was on her old computer(which died anthoer story)
any way so can i take the linsince of the old computer and use it on the new one and also the OS disc is only XP SP1 and i cant seem to find an update on MS website ???

so in short my questions are

1.can i use an old XP linsince on a new comp ?
2.Can any find XP SP2 or know a way to innstal it ?

as long as you have the disc that goes with that key then yes you can use it.

from what i seen the keys you see on the side of computers are allowed to be used every 6months or so. if that fails call up M$ and they will will give you a key to activate windows over phone.

well ms is cracking down so unless it was uninstalled properly you may get some problems but its posible as long as you have the disk and code... here it is for sp3 i think it will fill in all the blacks from sp2... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb794714.aspx hope it helps

Thanks most of this does help no need to worry about the old HDD as its busted lol

You have to be careful though because that Windows disc and key may be tied to that old computer. So in other words you will probably be able to install Windows on the new computer but the key may not work and so you wont be able to activate Windows.
