XP Re-Install Issue.

Hi Everyone.

i have run into a situation w/ my laptop. I leave on tour on thursday and I need my laptop, So i thought now would be a good time to do a fresh re-install of XP, so it would be running at optimal performance.

I insert my Install CD, restart, Blah blah blah, go through it all, and get to the registration part of it. I go to use the Internet option, and my Ethernet thinger isn't installed -- Problem 1. So i go to register by Phone, call them, give the install number, and everything checks out... Then The lady says something along the lines of "I'm sorry, we cannot give the code out"(i can't remember exactly what it said) So they go to transfer me... after sitting on the phone for 15 mins, the line goes dead...

Now im angry, so i do it AGAIN, and the same thing happens. Its like they won't register it, even though I've NEVER USED MY CODE BEFORE. I've NEVER even re-installed on my laptop before, so i don't understand what the problem could be.

Now its freezing literally every 15 seconds, and the mouse pad stops working here and there. Alot of Drivers are missing as well, its like its caught something harsh.

Is their any options for me? I really can't afford for this to be happening now.

Thanks for any input. DJ Con.

XP registered, i guess their was a problem with the server or something.

But alot of Drivers are still missing, what are my options for fixing that?

My widescreen is squished, lol.

I did that, but The Audio one still won't work, and Theirs a "System Bus" thing in the Device manager, that i can't find a driver for either.

am I just dumb, and can't figure it out? lol.

I forgot to add, my Laptop is a Gateway MX6445, specs are in my sig.

Thanks again everyone.

if youre using a recovery cd that came with the laptop, after everything is installed put the recovery cd in, go to the control panel, go to device manager, if the audio didnt install the device manager tabs (by the audio device) will have a yellow "?" by it. right-click it and install the driver manually. if you had a stand-alone windows disk, youre gonna need to find the motherboard disk and do the same thing....if that doesnt work...ur fuked!

There might be Drivers on the Gateway website too.

And for your Image being "Squished" might be because of your screen resolution. Incase you don't know, to change resolution, right-click on desktop, Display Properties, Settings. Slide the screen resolution bar to change resolution. Do you know your screen's native resolution?
