xp repair - cant find any hard disks? help

Hi,

my laptop is loading to the start windows, last known, safe mode etc - but no matter what one I choose it just restarts and only goes as far as that.

I have a medion md97900, I tried a windows xp repair but when it gets to the setup it says it cannot find any hard disks?

Any idea how to fix this?

Most likely you need to load the AHCI SATA controller driver at the beginning of windows installation for it to see the drive. Laptops are notorious for this. With this being a laptop you will need to slipstream the driver into a new install disk using Nlite.

Did the manufacturer give you a reinstallation cd or recovery cd or do you have a recovery partition? I've tried accessing the downloads from Medion but can't without the serial number off the computer you have. You might have to contact Medion or the people you got the computer off of for support.
