XP / Server Question

I built my own computer and put Windows Xp Home Edition on it. The Hard Drive has 750gb of space on it. I'm about to start training with Windows Server 2003 and need to get copy of it. My question is, is it possible to have both Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 on my computer, and if so how? If not, would a laptop run Windows Server 2003? Thanks

Sure, you can re-partition your drive to dual boot into either. Also, you can run Windows Server 2003 on a laptop if you really want to. A third option would be running Windows Server in a virtual machine. Doing this can be a great way to learn/experiment without worrying about hosing an install.

By the way, you would be much better of with using XP Pro in conjuction with learning about Windows Server.

Oh cool, see but the thing is I built this computer like a year and a half ago, so it has a lot of data and stuff on it and I really don't wanna reformat. Is there a way to dual boot without ridding this copy of XP?

I would just run it as a virtual machine myself. I run a Windows 2k3 server VM on my Macbook Pro with Active Directory running to test or demo stuff out. I mean I would never use a virtual server on my MBP in a live environment but for testing purposes it works out great.

You would be better off with a virtual machine in this case. Beside, you can set the server and several clients up at the same time on their own virtual machines and vlan. ...provided you have the horsepower and RAM to do so. As Tlarkin said, this is an excellent testing environment.

One more option would be to get another hard drive.

That sounds good, I just googled Virtual Machine and i'm still not quite sure how or what to do to get one. Any info on it would be greatly appreciated :o
