xp sleep problems

I have an old hp a410e desktop with xp still preloaded on it, when i manually put it in sleep mode it goes to sleep for about half a second and resumes. When I tell it to hibernate it goes down good but when I start it back up, it just does a clean restart. I have the restore disks but i don't think they would help.

Please don't take this the wrong way but *SLAP* never use sleep mode. Tears up your hard drive over time and will corrupt the drive clusters and screw up the OS ultimately.
