XP SP3 computer having trouble reading a Vista hard drive

Hello from Maine,

I am running XP SP3 on my computer. My friend's laptop's Vista installation was all messed up with viruses and what-not.

I pulled the drive and connected it to my computer via USB. But I am having trouble going into the "my documents" folder to backup the files :

E:\Users\Zombie\My Documents

When I try to go there it says "...refers to a location that is unavailable..." and I thought I fixed the ownership wiyth the security tab but I guess I did not do it right.

Can you tell me how to just make everything viewable ?

I wish there was a hack to just strip all folder properties from an entire drive so everything would be viewable.
