I have this older IBM computer (866 MHz Pentium III) with Windows XP home on it and I was wandering if older computers can handle SP3 well? Would it even make it a bit faster?

Some of the patches/updates included in sp3 might make a few things about XP faster. I dont have much experience with SP3 but, most Service Packs generally make certain parts of the OS faster. Such as, transfering files.
Ok after I installed sp3 on my computer in my sig., I get this error message when I try to run Device Manager or Disk Defragmenter and it won't let me run them at all:
OOOO I wish I'd seen this thread sooner.... I was going to warn that SP3 has caused a few problems on certain systems since it's release(but mainly on AMD's) I hope you have a decent system restore size set aside or you may not be able to roll back either !!(can't remember the reccomended size now )
i was involved in the public beta testing of xp sp3 . i needed to uninstall sp3 because at the time (i think ms have now released an updated version) a hotfix which i needed to get HD audio working (i have sigmatel, on an intel board) would not install on sp3 - it said "invalid service pack version , please upgrade to sp2" - LOL)
