XP vs 7 vs 8 (performance)

That article is over 2 years old and XP's support ends in April of 2014. So why would you downgrade to an OS with no more security updates? And most likely you wouldn't be able to get drivers for most the of newer hardware thats out anyway.

If I want security,I will get a great antivirus software which I alread have anyway.

As for the hardware drivers,I am using a very very old (15 years old) computer mostly for programming so I don't have to worry about the drivers since the programming does not require super strong modern hardware in order to make software.
Besides...with modern strong hardware I cannot earn a lot of money...if any.
With good software I can.:)
And besides...people who buy software on which you earn a lot of money never ask you how you made it and which OS and hardware you made it on lol.
To them it's important that it works and to you it's important to earn a lot of money.

I deliver and set up medical supplies for a lot of major companies and I am glad to see many companies here in the Colorado Springs area have moved to Windows 7, I know my company has moved to Windows 7 and mainly for the reason that we are about to deploy some new software that would not run well on hardware that is supported by XP.

The good thing is a majority of people would not see your point. Used Linux for a few years and the one thing it has taught me security is more then just anti virus. Windows XP and earlier versions have lot of loop holes in the security so saying you get a nasty virus/malware before the anti virus catches it you still may lose or corrupt data. On this forum and people I know in my personal life have lost data and there OS for just relying on a good anti virus verses the design of the OS.

Exactly.

I read somewhere that Microsoft will extend support for XP all until 2020.

Doesnt that kinda contradict your post in the other thread. You said microshaft is releasing updates to kill XP so people will upgrade. But at the same time they are going to keep updating it till 2020 so people will keep using it?

I might sound weird, but every software I make,I make it on the way so that it works on Windows 98 and later.Because not everyone use Windows 8.There are still MANY people who use Windows 2000 and Windows XP.Some even use Windows 98 and Windows ME.Many of them use Windows 7 and 8,but many also do not.

Many use 8
Many use 2000 & XP
Some use 98 &ME
Many use 7
But many also do not

Im not even going to decipher that.

It's kinda stupid that people stop using a specific OS only for one reason:

"Microsoft does not support it."

Not stupid at all. When they stop supporting a OS compaines stop making programs and drivers for it.

Like said, thats 2 years old and not true. Unless it comes from the horses mouth it means nothing.

What kind of software are you doing. Something like the original duke nukem on floppies. Plus you have a 15 year old computer and own this???

Ahh...I am getting tired of you...really.

Yes I did say Microsoft does things to force people to use newer Windows OS and I am not gonna change my mind. And yes I read somewhere that Microsoft will allow downgrades and support that until 2020. because I just read that on some web site for which I gave the link for also SO WHAT THE HELL THAT 2020. HAS TO DO WITH MY PREVIOUS POST ABOUT UPDATES?

NOTHING!

Jesus...

You twist every word I say. What's wrong with you?!Enough!

Christ...

And ok many people do not use Windows, but many also do use them.So what????????? What the hell do I have to do with that???
I make software for Windows and that's it!Those who use Windows will use Windows and those who do not will not use them.

And I am not gonna tell you what software I make because you are acting on me like I did something bad to you. What the hell is wrong with you?!
EVERY SINGLE WORD I SAY YOU TRY TO USE IT IN YOUR OWN ADVANTAGE AGAINST ME..........
I just said my opinion just like EVERYONE ELSE and it's up to them to decide what they want.

LOOK! This is a forum where we help people to solve computer problems and it is NOT a place to compete who is right, who is smarter and who is better, but you just keep doing EXACTLY that.

So stop!....Or don't stop.Do whatever you want actually. In fact you can keep saying whatever you want...because I just won't be paying attention on you anymore since I came here to help people instead of competing who is better.

And yes I have a 15 years old computer and yes I do own things for which people would never expect that I own by looking at my "peace of junk" system. You have a problem with that?

I do have MANY other computers too,but I like using the oldest one simply for the reason because I like trying to accomplish things on weak system such as a software development so that I can be sure it will work great on clients computers no matter how weak or strong they are.
So no matter HOOOOOOOOW WEIRD this might sound to you it's true.
Don't believe me?...Then don't believe me.

Do with your life whatever you want, but THIS FORUM is for helping and not for competing who is smarter and better.

Ok you don't like me.At all.I get it.Can you stop now?
Nah...you probably won't so do say/write whatever you want, but from now you are being ignored and I will automatically skip your every post.

I tryed to be nice, but that is just impossible with you.

Strangehold, 7zip can run on windows 98 and is a fantastic program. Not all programs are bad if they run on 98. But, you are right other then that. I have no idea while STARS is so defendant of XP.

It's all a conspiracy! Microsoft is pretty much making new OS's and stuff because they want us to upgrade our pcs every 2 or 3 years. Not because newer stuff are breakthroughs that make a difference. I bet that the illuminati are involved too!

lol

How do you all think Bill Gates feels about supporting financially updates for four different versions of Windows now? Hopefully there plan of keeping the upgrade price low until January 31st helps more people switch over.

How do you think coders feel having to port fixes to that many OSes? I hate to be in their shoes, and they probably will breathe a sigh of relief when that day comes. The hardware requirements have also not changed since vista...so that will be another factor in bringing people in for upgrades.

I will be glad to see the XP dog get buried, I hate installing, hate testing it, and hate seeing software developers have to support that relic. Good riddance. Hardware is capable enough nowadays that there is no good reason to have XP around anymore..

I could only imagine how they feel.
