Y can't I download?

Every time I try to download some thing on my computer it immediatly does a restart and I don't know y!!

I have windows Xp profesional, service pack 1 (beacuse I gave my pc to a technition that made a format and he installed only the OS no service pack and other things).

If u need other information just post and I will tell u!!

P.S. = I even have windows 98 on the same PC, but every time I try to enter it the computer hangs.
 
You have windows 98 and XP on the same machine? Are they on separate partitions?

The first thing I would do is run a virus scan. :-)
