Alright, heres my semi-final list:

NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner (37.99$)
SAPPHIRE Radeon X850XT (163$)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (355$)
Windows XP MCE (114.95$)
ASUS A8N5X (80.99$)
Rosewill RP550-2 550W (64.99$)

Is it worth going down from the X1800XT to the X850XT?

if your planning on gaming don't get MCE... i had it and it was nice, but it uses almost twice as much resources as Home or Pro... i.e. directly after installing home my PF usage was 85mb... directly after installing MCE my PF usage was 180MB...
so i would get home or pro if you are gaming...

and the X1800XT is much better... if you have the money get the X1800XT... if you don't the X850XT will be fine

the X1800XT is better than the X850XT. Hard drive?

I'm using my old 80gig for now. Im running out of space though, so I might buy a 120 or 160 gig later on.

What is the page file?

Also, should I get the 64 bit XP? I heard there are driver issues.

yep. I'd recommend against the 850xt. the 1800xt is better, but the 7900GT is far better than both and you can grab that for 300 at newegg. also, i wouldnt get the MCE, go pro or home. The advantages of MCE are minimal.

if you're still looking for a case, go with coolermaster's centurion or centurion 5. great case, good cooling, really low ($50) price.

no. there have been many threads about 7600GT vs. 6800GS, and the 7600GT always wins

+++shipping and tax is about $100+extra
mine was total $710 but became $820 due to shipping and tax
IF u live in cali or other states that requires tax from online

Ok, I decided to get an SLI mobo and PSU. Might as well keep my options open. If the mobo works with SLI, will it also work with crossfire? If not, can someone recommend me a crossfire mobo?
