One of my "friends" poor as they are want to get some wireless at their dorm. Im having a time trying to figure out exactly what kind of card would work.

The "Dino" in question..... compaq presario 1200-XL118 .... -_-

As best I can tell, I should be able to use nearly any pcmcia card that is pc II or pc III? But Im not sure enough. _-_

Thx in advance.

That's just like my brother's old laptop. I tried to take it off his hands a few years ago, but he demends it remain untouched in a cabinet in his old room :P

Anyway, yeah, any PCMCIA card should work. Just make sure you can find drivers for whatever OS you have loaded on that beast. If it's a newer card, it might be more difficult to find 98SE drivers. If possible (and if it's not already done) I'd upgrade to XP. It should run it alright and XP has much better wireless support.

Unfortunately I dont have access to their laptop and have no way to load xp into it. I'll suggest it though. I'll just send 'em a link for one that should work with 98 or xp.... since that's all they wanted lol.

Thx for the info.
