Your thoughts on LCD HDTV's as monitors

Hey guys, first post here, but definitely going to be posting more and asking many questions as I've been out of the computer building game for a few years.

Anyway, I'm moving from Texas to California and not bringing my television. With the prices of 24"+ LCD HDTV's dropping pretty significantly in the last few months I've been looking into buying one and just using it as my monitor for the computer and a television for my room.

There are a few that i've been looking at with HDMI/DVI-I connections for the computer, native resolution of 1366x768, etc.

So what are the thoughts of doing something like this? I'm used to my 1280x1024 resolution, but I'm pretty sure I could adapt to the widescreen view.

Let me know on either your opinion or link me to a website that gives their opinion.

Thanks

They'd probably be great for gaming and other video applications. However, for tasks such as writing or reading text, widescreens (especially a 24"+ one) can be a real pain if your windows are fullscreen. Your eyes can only track a line of text for so long before it loses its place. That's why books are longer vertically.

To be able to display that resolution with decent performance, you might need a pretty high end graphics card.

If you have the money to buy a decent card such as a 7900GT or upwards, then I like the idea.
