Youtube copyright questions

Firstly: I acquire all my music legally. I want to support the bands that I listen to and wish everyone did.

I uploaded a song called "Decisions" by a band called "Rehab". It was a song I purchased legally online, off a record owned by universal called "Welcome home".

I wanted to upload this song because even though there are countless other songs by this band including most songs off the same album, "Welcome Home", there was not this particular song, and I like the song and wanted to share it with my friends and such.

Unfortunately when people try to view it they get "This video contains content from UMG. It is not available in your country."

I don't understand how at least 5 other songs from this record are up on YouTube for people to listen to, but I can't upload this song.

All of these songs are on the same record but they can be viewed fine:

Why can't mine be viewed? I don't understand. Could someone please enlighten me?

You can appeal that, it'll be on the video page somewhere. Just put something there that you're putting on youtube under fair use laws, that it was acquired legally, and that you do not own the content. Or re-upload it and do that.

Well I tried to re-upload it twice and it did the same thing immediately. They must be automatically reading the tags or the title and blocking it.

You can do one of two things. Appeal it via the email, if you tell them it's under Fair Use and not for profit they'll remove the restriction.

or

You can download Audacity and open the song it then change the pitch up or down by 1. This will bypass the filter and it's undetectable to the human ear.

And fwiw, downloading music off the internet isn't illegal unless you try to profit off it. It's uploading that's illegal, at least here in the US.
