Zalman or Xigmatek cpu cooler

It kinda depends on what processor you have. The Zalman is for older single and dual core processors. The Xigmatek is made for new dual cores and quad cores. As far as performance...The Xigmatek will crush that thing....that Zalman is only the 9500 model. Don't get me wrong, the Zalman is a good CPU cooler, but the Xigmatek has had great reviews and performs in the top percentages for CPU coolers. There are members here in CF that run the Xigmatek.

Just be aware of the fact you may have to buy a bracket for the back of the motherboard to properly support the Xigmatek. That thing sporting some push pins is just not what you want. A small tube of Arctic Silver 5 or MX2 is a must also:)

****EDIT****

Size is also something to consider...the Xigmatek is a large cooler. Make sure your case has room for that thing.

Please post your computer specs to include but not limited to; motherboard, case, processor.

thanks, yeah ive seen some real good reviews on the xigmatek. My cpu is e8400.

The Xigmatek would be perfect for an E8400:D

Here is the retention bracket I was talking about;)

This is also another good TIM for processor cooling

Gonna buy the fan tomorrow, Hopefully everything works out.

another vote for the xigmatek s-1283, it blows the zalman out of the water, no contest.

it wont win any style points next to the zalman, but in its own way its a very nice looking chunk of metal in my antec 900...

the E8400 will be an icicle under this thing ;)

The S1283 xigmatek is an excellent cooler, i love mine with my quad. But because of the heatsink positioning on the 1284, there is no heatpipe that is actually directly on top of the cores of the processor, which kinda hinders performance, the S1283 performs better than the 1284;) By the way, take a look at the S1283 dark knight, as it comes with the crossbow retention bracket(bolt thru vs pushpins on regular s1283) and looks a little better than the regular s1283;)
