Like Cisco001 has already stated, no you cannot upgrade your graphics/video card as you have a laptop. Your only option would be to buy a new laptop with a decent dedicated video card.

Yeah, all cpu/processors are different, some are more stable and lower voltages than others, so it's all a luck of the draw.

Your best bet is the power supply, I had a similar problem, but the light on my power button didn't turn on whatsoever. Popped in a brand new one, and problem solved.

Just updating this, I fixed the problem it was the power supply giving out. Started with the computer randomly turning off and then eventually it wouldn't shut on. I guess it stopped supply voltage to the 12v rails, but I popped in a brand new CX600M and it works perfectly.

Only the Z77 chipset allows for overclocking with ivy bridge, any other and you'll be locked out. Also, your i5-3450s doesn't have an unlocked multiplier anyways, so theres no point in trying to overclock even if you did have a z77.

I still think it's the power supply, i've tried everything. Literally.
