EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra Video Card for $450

That card is way expensive. Get the HD4870, it kicks its...... ;)

Heck, even the HD4850 ($199) would give it some competition.

The 8800 Ultra is a very old card (almost 2 years old, it came out in the winter of 2006). A 9800GTX for under $200 would outperform it, or even better the 4870 for $309.

what do you mean?
im not challenging you, but like in terms of having the best card? or the price/performance ratio?

I recommend the 9800 GTX...Just got mine in and WOW, I can tell a difference from the 8800 GTX I had. EVGA e-mailed me and told me to send in my 8800 GTX and they would mail me the new 9800 GTX. Running Call Of Duty 4 at max everything 1600x1080 (my screens max resolution)and I am pulling 65-80 FPS. Very impressed with this card:D And it is only $200 on newegg...thats a deal that will be hard to beat with price:performance ratio!

They are right though...for $300 dollars you can get an ATI based 4870...thats one bad card! People are complaining about drivers for it right now...but ATI will get them out.

XION II case
ASUS P5N-E 650i
Intel Q9300
Corsair XMS2 4x1 GB
Evga 9800 GTX
ANTEC Neo Power 650w PSU
12,800 3Dmark06

4870 owns so much right now, and if 300 is too much then the 9800GTX is being beaten by the 4850.

Looking for a new video card. seems like a good price for $450.

I'm sorry but...
LoL!
LOl I like Nvidia more than ATi but you can get a HD 4870 for less and it kick the 8800Ultra behind :p
Oh yeah.

HD4850. :D
Or a 4850 for 150-200. I'd say that's the best deal.
Ati FTW :)
go for the 9800 GTX...cheaper good enough and from nvidia [;
I'm sorry but.
No.
nVidia isn't the best anymore....
Ati is winnin . :P
You can get 9800GTX for less than half the price of 8800Ultra
Get the HD4850
Price/performance = ATi

Best of the best = nVidia

Best choice in your situation: HD4870

;)
Ati !
Interesting... Lol.

Yup nVidia really has to catch up quick.

The short answer is. *Drum roll*
Get the HD4850 from Ati.
End of story.
End of everything.
HD4850 is the best bang for anyones buck right now. :D

Amazing how obsessive bandwagon-jumping can happen in so little time. The new cards have been out what? A week?

As for the comment that Nvidia has to catch up quick...do you expect Nvidia and ATI to flip-flop the "better price/performance ratio" every 2 days? Every 12 hours?

ATI is currently offering the best deals IMO, like a lot of other people think so. That's awesome, for obvious reasons and I'm glad. Still funny reading these posts that were drastically different literally days ago...to the point of vehemently proclaiming that basically Nvidia sucks.
