New Gaming PC

MMenza, why the 8800 640MB? That is an ancient old card. Also why AMD? Intel is currently better cent by cent. Also, if you're gonna play mainly WoW and Warhammer, you don't need a high-end gaming system. Here's what I'd get:

Of course it can play crysis =] The computer in my signature can play crysis on high. Think of what the computer I built you can play it on =]

oh man you're my hero. And with a price like that I may be able to get it sooner than I thought. I really appreciate the help. I always imagined that computers were over the top expensve, but I guess I really did just need to buy my own stuff.

You may be able to play it but @ what FPS? :P

Also, the 8800GTS 640MB that you suggested is not the best for Crysis if that's what the OP wants to play other than WoW...

well intel is pretty exspencive, and he is on a budget so I decided to go with AMD, they are reliable and very afforable through my experience

wow I really appreciate it. Lately I have been doing research to educate myself about all of this, but I started pretty late.

Yeah, I built the computer in my signature last summer, but before then I didn't know anything about computer hardware. You just have to do some basic research to get the general stuff down. Read a couple of Build your own PC tutorials (theres one on this site, and one on tigerdirect.com, and hundreds more if you google it). But once you know the general stuff, do some research into specifics, you know? And if you have questions you can always post them here.

But thats what I did, just got the basics down, then learned the more specific stuff, through articles and reading threads and asking questions. So I started late too, lol, but theres not much to it. You'll be surprised how easy it is.:)

Well, your AMD build is $835 before shipping. The Intel build I suggested is $765 after shipping ;)

Of course my build has only 2Gb of RAM but that is more than enough for the games he wants to play. And he can always add more in the future.

well WoW isnt the only game I'm going to play, so i dont mind spending extra on the system.. And I dont care about flashy so a cheaper case would be cool...as long as it has sufficient cooling.

also i did forget to ask about the video card i was thinking about getting a nvidia 9800 something...wasnt sure what to go with though...maybe a 9600?

and to maroon, is that cpu and motherboard a big upgrade or a personal preference?

oh yeah and mmezna did I also need a power supply for the pc you built...and nice sig haha

If you want Nvidia then I recommend the 9800GTX+ that I suggested in my previous post

However, 9600GT is good as well. If you have limited budget then get 9600GT.

Yes of course they are big upgrade.

The E8400 or Q6600 are both great processors and they are faster than AMD phenom

If you have very limited budget then get Core 2 Duo E7200

Ok, I'll look over all of this stuff and add it up. also how much is the operating system going to cost me since I need to pick that up. and it can be fairly basic since this rig is for 90% gaming.

:) That's perfect for your needs IMO

Thanks ramodkk. I'm going to look over it, but will that system run crysis on high as well? I don't know if you noticed my other post saying that WoW isnt the only game I wanted to play. But I want it to be able to run well for me for a few years of gaming. also I think i would upgrade that processor for a 3.0 dual or a 2.5 quad.

will it matter in the long run?

More and more games are coming out in DX 10 (they are generally backwards capable though), I don't know when DX 9 support will end, but when it does it will matter.

DX10 gives you better graphics and as a result is a little harder on your system. I have XP, but most people one here have Vista, and I've been thinking about upgrading (I just dont have the money).

Its really up to you. Most of the stability and compatability issues that people had with vista whenit first came out have been fixed.

Yeah, that processor (E7200) paired with the HD4850 would definitely let you play Crysis. If you want to be 100% sure that you'd play it in high/very high, get the E8400 and the HD4870 instead. That'd cost you about an extra $150 ;)

But I mean, the E7200 paired with the HD4850 is simply amazing. Will let you play Crysis.

i compared prices and it would only be like an extra 80 bucks on newegg...unless im missing something. now is there any benefit in going with nvidia instead...it seems more popular is there a reason for that? or do the pros go with radeon
