Hi I'm thinking of buying an 8800 GT but I know its a High End Card but will it work on my current PC Specs. Here it is;

P4 3.00 Ghz (Multithreaded)
1GB (DDR II) Ram
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (My Mobo)
1x 250gb HDD 1x 80gb HDD

Thats all will 8800 GT work well with my other PC components. And my other question is 8800 GT is a DDR3 card will it work on my current Motherboard?.

And so if it wont how bout 8600 GT?

And can i ask how much is an 8800 GT in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and how much is 8600 GT ?

Assuming that your MoBo has a PCI-E slot (which I believe it does), then yes, it will, as long as you have a PSU capable of feeding that thingy, it's a lil hungry.

And my other question is 8800 GT is a DDR3 card will it work on my current Motherboard?.
Graphics memory and the memory the MoBo takes have nothing to do with each other - you're fine using (G)DDR3 card on a DDR/DDR2 mobo.

And so if it wont how bout 8600 GT?
I would think, depending on the games you play, that a 8600GT would be better for you - your current setup will bottleneck the 8800GT, and 8600GT is a well-performing alternative for those that don't have too powerful PSUs (or too powerful computers overall).

What PSU do ou have, and what games are you planning on playing?

Well thx for the Info BTW ^^.

Well Im a Gamer I play WOW. But my current VGA doesnt support Direct X 10 so I cant play the new games that need DX 10.

Well I will play CoD 4, Crysis, Doom 3, Warhammer Online and other new games that comes out and Im thinking of buying the cheapest but one of the best card.

Maybe 8800GT or 8600GT but I really like 8800GT cause it has a huge difference in 8600GT.

I just dont know if its ok for my current PC

Oh ya my PSU is 400W

Have you looked at the 9600gt? It may be a bit cheaper where you live and the specs are almost identical to a 8800gt. the 8800gt is better, but a bit hungry (already said), the 9600gt might take just a smidge less power.

you will need a bigger psu anyway, 400w aint enough.

And you know you cant get directx10 without vista, right?

Well it's not so much the overall wattage of the PSU but the amps on the 12V rail. Is it a stock PSU or do you have a model number you can give us?

Wow never thought of that u mean 8800GT is better than 9600GT? maybe I should check it too then. Oh if 9600 GT doesnt eat that much power than 8800GT does. And 9600GT and 8800GT has a little difference in its performance then maybe I should go for 9600GT well I'll see if it's cheaper though.

Here is my PSU < Power Supply P4-400W 20+4Pin > there u go ^^

Agreed with the above.

That card works with the mobo (check my sig).

You will need a quality PSU, i would suggest posting the card and the PSU you intend to use for us to check.

What resolution do you play your games at?

Consider the 4850/4870.

why i have one on my secondary rig. its cheap, works well on stock psus, no extra connectors needed, single slot and runs a lot of games, good mid range card.

Nah I just use 1280x1024 cause my screen is 19".
Well I dont want ATI.

btw again

Here is my PSU < Power Supply P4-400W 20+4Pin > there u go ^^

and btw there are many types of 8800GT and 9600GT and I dont know hell what I need to use lol there are like 20 different types of this cards damn its hard to choose.

well Im going to check the Computer Market tomorrow night see if they have good 9600GT or 8800GT that is cheap but can I ask this.

If i bought a card that has 600+Mhz GPU and its DDR3 and with my current PC components can I be able to play games like DMC 4,CoD 4, Crysis, Doom 3, and other new games that has really cool graphics with NO video lag at all? but on what setting High, Medium or maybe Low T_T.

All on high except Crysis which you will get medium happily enough at that resolution may be even med/high with overclocking.

You need a new PSU. Look at the Corsair HX520W as your minimum in terms of quality and 12V rail amperage. You will damage you system with that PSU and that card. If you want me to explain in detail why that PSU is less than sufficient, post its full model number/brand. But trust me, you need a new PSU, that is quality.

So I need to buy a 500W PSU with 9600GT?.

If I put 9600GT on my Mobo with 400W PSU my System (Computer) will be destroyed :O?.

Man thats an additional budget to that T-T.

Dang....

Well Im not that rich guy so Im just gonna save money and buy it next month.

AND yea BTW good thing I asked u guys first before buying If I bought one and dont know that 400W will kill my PC I dont know what will happen to me xD.

Well anyways thx for your help guys ^^ really alot. Thx for the warnings too :D.

And dont stop here keep posting and give me more knowledge to what I will buy oh yea, Tomorrow im going to the Computer Market and I'll see what they have and Im going to post it here ^^.

Well Thx again ^^.

*Wanna max out my WOW Settings too ;P*

yeah basically just remember that cheap psu = crap. Cheap psu will not last long and wont be efficient. A "600w" cheapass may only actually output 350w whereas a decent one may do 500w
