Video card upgrade (NVIDIA GeForce 8800+ GT)

Well, I'm semi-new to the whole computer-modding world, and since I want games to actually work on my system, I'm looking for a more powerful video card. Is this a good video card? At this moment, I'm essentially trying to play Unreal Tournament 3, and my current video card just isn't cutting it. Would this be enough to play this game (and others like it), or is this overkill? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

By the way, I posted this question on Yahoo! Answers and got this as a reply:
If you're looking simply for a card that will run the game decently that will work. If you want to be able to play at high graphical settings you should get at least an 8800 or 9600 gt. Keep in mind that you may have to upgrade your power supply as well when you upgrade cards, especially if your computer was factory pre-built and it came with an integrated video card. Lastly, you may also want to look into upgrading your RAM since it's so cheap right now. That will also give you a performance boost, and not just for gaming.

Here's a card I would recommend; I use it in my own computer and it runs my games perfectly.

Two things here:
1. Is his information correct?
2. Concerning the upgrade in power supply... do I really need that? I'll probably end up getting the 8800, so does it really need that much extra power?

Lol, the computer i had now had that exact same Video card but i upgraded :) But i can't find your PSU on the list why don't you take the side cover off your computer and the PSU (the box with all the wires running out of it :P) and look for the Watts like 200W or 500W and i would also recommend upgrading your ram to 2 GB DDR2 runs way faster :)

Yep, you need a new powersupply. I wouldn't run a 8800GT on an eMachines' PSU. It's probably about 200-300W? You need 400W for the 8800GT not to mention that your current PSU doesn't even have the required amperage.

In other words, yes I highly suggest you get a new power supply. Anything from Cooler Master, OCZ, Corsair, Thermaltake, Silverstone, Antec would be a nice choice. As for the video card, the 8800GT should be enough for UT3

:)

It's sad that i have 250W PSU :P I'm going to give this computer to my grandma when i get new one he will be happy

If you don't mind, could you point me in the direction of a place where I could buy one of these (New Egg possibly)? I don't have the slightest clue what to look for here outside of the brands you just mentioned lol

They are pretty much universal fit. Some are built precisely for slim desktop cases but it's obvious because they are a lot smaller.

PSUs go by the shape and design of the computer case. Most computer designs are of the ATX form factor. Most are general ATX, but some can be the smaller micro ATX. Your computer seems to fit the ATX form factor. The motherboard itself isnt on the list in your product page, so I cannot be 100% sure, but I believe the only model motherboards with the NVIDIA® GeForce® 6150SE integrated graphics are ATX boards, which fit into ATX cases.
