Need help installing Vista

So I finally got vista for my new computer, but I can't boot the DVD drive to get it working. I went into the BIOS and the boot option, but only "floppy" appears in the boot priority category. The hard drive doesn't appear either. Are the SATA connections loose or something?

Have you open up and see if the sata cable connected. Make sure its not loose.

Hi there, i have had problems like this when i also tried to install vista & Xp.
I have also experienced that when installing a new operating system such as vista or xp, it must run off a CD Drive (for most old computers) - i may be wrong but works every time i try.

Heres what you can do to install that vista on your pc!!

Go to My Computer
> Explore the vista DVD rom by going to the DVD drive..
> Find & Click Setup.exe
> Then install from there and when its finished installing, if you're installing vista when you have xp installed already, you will find a folder called windows.old (located on the c: drive) - you can delete that because you wont be needing the xp files when you have the vista operation files located in the new windows folder.

Mate, i hope this may have helped you.
thanks.

Lol, thanks chris. Actually, the hard drive is completely blank, so it's a clean installation; there's no OS installed.

I got the drives to work. Apparently it had something to do with the two red SATA connections on my mobo, so I switched them to ordinary yellow SATA connections. So the Vista installation is running now, but it froze, with the Vista background on. Is something wrong with the cd? :|

it may be the cd but yet again there may be a fault in your computer.
if you have a XP installation cd i recommend you install XP then when finished, proceed to install vista from "My Computer" -> DVD Drive and continue there.
Thats just another way i can think of installing it instead of from the bios.

Er, actually I finished installing Vista, lol. I switched back to the old computer (using one monitor) so I didn't noticed that Vista finished loading. Well, everythings ok, seems a little quicker I guess, but I'm having some issues with the GPU driver. Installed it earlier and everything came out nice (SMALLER), but then after restarting everything came out big again. I need to download the newest driver for GeForce 8100 I guess, lol. Thanks for the help everyone.

I got a base score of 1.0 D:
