PSU for around £100

I know it isn't OCUK, but

http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-38-120-0

narrow the search to corsair

Is very good. I have used scan before (for my own PSU now infact) and they give very quick shipping and very good prices.

If modular isn't your thing then

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-011-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084

is also very very good but not modular (imo better without modular as it is cheaper for what is essentially the same thing).

I would say because of the price you can't really get a bad supply, however again because of the price you are able to choose from just about any brand. I would recomen a Corrsair one because they are over 80%, very high ampage on the 12V rails and the 5 year warranty gives you assurance that it will be faultless, not that you need that with Corsair.

Thanks! I don't really mind where it's from, as long as it's in the UK.

The link to the first one doesn't work? I wouldn't really mind if it wasn't modular, I guess saving the money on a non-modular would allow me to get a bigger PSU for head room.

Is it for your rig danny? :)

Yeah, sure is.

fixed the link as best as i could on the original post, sorry about that :P

yea scan are in UK and as i say, very good

Haha! Thanks man!

The Corsair HX620, right? It's nice, but I think I'd want something a little bigger, to be on the safer side.

Danny (i can call you danny, right? :P) dont forget the Corsair is rated at 50*C, while other PSU's are rated at 20*C. that makes a significant difference! :)
The HX620W can deliver 50 Ampére on the 12V rail. Have this PSU for, err, 15 months now iirc, the modular cables are excellent, and the PSU works perfect too. :D (and with 5 years of warranty.. well, I dont think you can go wrong. )\
In the case this powersupply dies tough,.. I'm going for a HX1000W. 9might be overkill, but i'm sticking to Corsair, excellent powersupplies. (the voltages even stay stable at 110% load,.. at least, thats what I've seen in the reviews. )

What are you planning on running on the new Psu?

Just my current rig. I'm not using all my current PSU, but I was thinking it'd be nice to have that little bit extra.

Here is a OCZ 700w PSU for 72 (I don't have the cool sign button)

Might be worth a look

Looks pretty sweet! Thanks for the link! Are OCZ good though?

Yeah, you can call me Danny! :P

Well, my current HX520 isn't struggling, I just thought it'd be nice to have a little bit more. I'd like a HX620, but I don't think I'd really call it much of an upgrade. Though, I guess the TX850 isn't bad, though I'd like a modular PSU.

I found these, look Ok?

The Cooler Master looks like an excellent deal, the PSU itself looks pretty kick-ass.

That looks awesome! Thanks for finding it!

get the one i got, http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134695
great power supply, i love mine :D

dont you think that http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134072# is a big overkill for your rig, or are you planning on building a new rig

I think I'd want to go with a little more power, for the extra headroom. Yeah, you're right, it's probably a bit over-kill, but better to get one that's too big, rather than too small.

If you look at my rig below you will see that i have the corsair 850 watt PSU, it's the same on that is on scan now but when i got it they had a deal on on it, but even so, it rocks!!.

My build is similar to yours, same number of HDDs only one of mine is ALOT older and very inneficient, graphics cards pretty much the same, i have older processor technology so probably use more power used with my processor and i have more RAM sticks too. The 850W is major overkill, if it wasn;t on offer i would have gone for a 600-700W one, that would have been fine because my rig uses only about 570-600W, and as yours is damn similar, anything above that will be fine, even if it is 700W, it will be fine for later technology, as the later quad core processors and more modern HDDs and RAm are actually more efficient and use less power than their less powerful predecesors

too bad they seem to make the processors and grafic's cards more powerhungry all the time :|

Just save money up and get a HX1000W :P at least you know you wont make a step backwards in quality. :)

Yeah soon they will get that power hungry no one will be able to afford to run a home desktop :P

It just seems to be gfx cards thats always needing the power, cpus especialy newer intel done require much.
