greetings all,
......it's been a while!
.....my brother out of state has a dell desktop with win xp, 1 gb ram,
100 gb+hd, etc etc...i set up the computer (programs, settings, etc) for him a year or so ago. was visiting him last week and found that he (or somehow) the computer is screwed up!...
......when he clicks on a picture, the desktop background gets turned off for a second or two and the icons nearest the "clock" disappear (or most of them anyway)....
.......believe it or not, he has dial up for the time being (yeah yeah, i know!) and has 3,000+ e-mails that have already been downloaded from earthlink as that is his dial up isp at this time.....
....i un-installed windows office 2007 (piece of XXXX!) and installed win 2000. i was going to attempt to use the xp disc to somehow restore what i believe could be corrupt system files but, i absolutely cannot - do not want to lose or erase the already downloaded e-mails as they contain valuable medical information for/to him as he is a disabled vet.....i have also gone back just a bit into "restore" but, the problem still exists...
...any help in this situation would be greatly appreciated!..THANKS!
