Nvidia 185.85 driver issues! Anybody else?

Just want to share an issue I had when I installed Nvidia's new driver version 185.85 that was released on 6 May 2009.

So every couple months I check all drivers and see what updates there are. I installed this driver and all sorts of problems started. I thought at first maybe I selected the wrong driver and tried the entire process twice...same thing.

1. My computer starts folding upon startup, I GPU fold at 680MHz all the time and never had any issues. Temps stay in low and mid 60c range all the time. With the new driver I got artifacts as soon as it stated folding. I checked temps and they were in the mid 80c range:eek:

2. Tried to play Empire: Total War and it would crash as soon as it loaded. I messed with that for about an hour with no luck.

3. Call of Duty 4 crashed after about 2 minutes of play. Did this several times.

4. eVGA voltage tunner said "no supported products detected"

So I installed the older driver 182.50 and deleted the 185.85 version. Everything works perfect now;)

Has anybody else tried this new driver version? Anybody have issues with it?

Rivatuner won't recognise it for me. But I haven't had any other problems. I have only tried it with one game though, I'll have to install some more and see how it goes. Might do that now actually.

I'm gonna try this tomorrow, just got the 260, be interesting if I get the same thing..

Hopefully not...that I think is the first driver issue I have ever had with an Nvidia card...kinda blew me away.

Rivatuner won't recognise it...yet another issue that has surfaced with this driver. Good luck with the testing:)

I have a feeling it could be more related to Rivatuner though, as in, they haven't yet provided an update to accommodate for/recognise the latest drivers.

I tried the 185.xx drivers when i was in vista, and i didnt have any issues with my 9800gtx with evga precision. But im not sure exactly what drivers they were(just know they were 185)

I just tried GRID and Saints Row 2 and no problems there, temps looked normal, they both ran just as well as they did on the 182.xx drivers. Lets see how Buzz goes, seeing as he's also got a 260 now. Bit annoyed I can't overclock though, wanted to see how my 3DMark06 score compared to Vista, I guess I could do it at stock clocks, not sure if I saved my stock clocks score in Vista though.

P.S Just did a quick search on good old Google and it looks like other people are having problems with Rivatuner and 185.85 64bit drivers. hmmm.

EDIT: Woot! Found a fix :D For anyone that's interested: http://en.expreview.com/2009/05/11/...ibility-problem-with-forceware-18585-x64.html

i got them with my gts250 and no problems here. although like others have said, rivatuner doesnt support the drivers or so it says

They refuse to install on my Acer laptop with a 9500GS and Windows 7 RC X64. It just keeps telling me it can't find the correct hardware for the drivers

I have that driver installed. At first the GPU temperature was like 7C higher than usual, and the desktop image was "minimized", like it wasn't taking up the entire screen (it was set to 1980 x 1080 ). All I did was use go to Resize HDTV Desktop under Video & Television in the Nvidia control panel and adjusted the size so it takes up the entire screen. Now everything's normal.

The only thing I found strange after that was Crysis: Warhead crashing during an OC test, with the settings set on gamer. I have no issues with EVGA Precision.
