going with the crowd..

my brother gave the xbox yesterday to UPS..

when i cam home that evening.. he told me he forog to put the reference number on the box! >.< if you want something done right,.. do it yourself.. /whine.

Send a mail to MS right away, giving them the reference number and UPS package number... but I doubt that'll make a difference. I gues thei'll just send it back because of that. :( (can't blame them either,. I mean, if everyone would forget that number,, it'd be a logistic nightmare I suppose.)

Excellent.. I've sent the Xbox back on friday (thursday it broke, send it the next day in the afternoon.) got a mail this morning that it's arrived at the repair facillity. :)
I'm quite pleased with this, because sunday and monday were/are official hollidays here.

Everytime someone gets a RRoD I'm glad I never bought a 360 :P I can't believe there are still red ring eligible machines on the market (or was the problem never really fixed?)

So very true...though I recently fixed my uncles 360 and I gotta say I am glad I stopped buying consoles after the PS2.

Id much rather pay for a emulated version from MS/Sony/etc and play in on my PC.

just checked the status of my repair-warranty etc thingy.

and it was on the last step already! "Apparaat verzonden naar de klant - Je console is gerepareerd of vervangen. We sturen de console naar je terug."

"device is shipped to the customer - your device has been repaired or replaced. we send you the console back"

Microsoft loves me! :D I mean, if they send it away today,. I would have it on friday. making it a week from the console beeing shipped away, till it comming back again.

Hope everything works out fine. (obviously) but so far it actually looks really really good.

Edit: woooo.. I didn't see the UPS tracking number the first time.. jsut checked. the package was sent yesterday already. (damn fast if you ask me!) so it should be here today already. :D then I can continue playing mass effect,. wheeee. :) :D :o

It seems that you get faster service in the Netherlands than we do here in the U.S. It took mine about 3 weeks to come back from MS.

i give credit to microsoft for the whole xbox 360 repair/replace program they have. i've had to do it twice now, and both times it was a very speedy turn around (little over 2 weeks i believe) they make the process very painless, i did everything online, not a single phone call, and hell they even ship you the box!

anyway, glad to hear that you'll be back up and running!

wheeee.. My xbox did indeed arrive today. :) they just replaced it with a new one. (at least, it looks brand new, with even the protective stickers on it.)

I'm very pleased with this. the drive is much more quiet than the one I had. :D

yea i got a brand new one as well, with the protective stickers on it and stuff. that was only after they sent me a refurbished one that didn't work though.

I have a mate who has had the red rings six times now

Six times!! I wonder what the world record is. MS really screwed up on selling defective Xbox 360s. They should come with a lifetime red ring of death warranty, since every Xbox 360 will eventually red ring.

thats like saying everyone will eventually die. (sorry, but yea, ofc. even the perfect working xbox's will die at some point due to wear.)

alot of times ms will just send a new xbox back instead of fixing, everyone i know that has sent it in has gotten a new console back, and g4m3r fixing ur self isnt a perm fix, they are temp fixes pretty much, if u have the warranty from ms then use it, it might be a little longer gettin it back but ur chances of getting a new system is good, and if there is something wrong they will take it again. ive had my xbox 2 years not had one problem

My first one is working fine, and I have friends that have fixed theirs permanently.

can u tell its permanent can u tell me if i will have a good job in the next year, seems like u can tell the future, read 360 forums or post in one they will tell u that can never gurantee the xclamp fix or ne of that will last very long, ive had them only last 2 weeks, do it again might get a month before i have to fix it again.. like i said if u have the ms warranty use that before trying to fix yourself..

Will they fix it and send it back? Or give you a new one?

Because mine doesn't have an HDMI port :( But it's been working for about two years now.
