Hi guys. I am new to this forum. Currently, I have an Asus 9500 gt video card and I was wondering what card would be a good upgrade that is around $130? Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Since you already have an ndvidia card i'd go for the 9800gtx..thier's more brands of the same card out thier maybe you can choose a different one but this one was the only one for 129.99

I have an Antec True Power Trio 550w psu. Which of these cards you guys had recommend would be the best?

i think that it's betweent the gts 250 and the 9800gtx.... the 250 is a renamed 9800gtx but since it's a newer card and has better driver's it will probably be slightly better.... I say go for the 250 but if you could dish out another $30-$40 maybe you could go for a gtx260

What are the rest of the specs of your system? Cpu/mobo/memory?

They use the same drivers...

I think that I might go for the gts 250. My original plan was to spend about a $100 but then my brother lend me about 40 dollars to buy the card. Thanks for the input guys:)

ok but the 250 has probably has some bug fixes and such on the card

Not really, just uses a little less power. Its not worth it to spend the extra on a gts250 over a 9800gtx+ as the performance is pretty much identical, if your gonna spend that much get a GTX260 core 216:

E6300 1.86ghz cpu
P5QL-Em mobo
4gb ram(unknown brand)

Which would you recommend bomberboysk?

Id go with the 1GB HD4850 that stranglehold recommended to be honest, or a GTX 260 core 216. Or if its within budget one of these:

You care to explain that.

Hes just assuming it, the word "probably" is the key word there.

The only difference between a 9800gtx+ and GTS250 are the power design that has been optimized to use slightly less power and therefore require only one pci-e connector, the card is a little bit shorter, and thats about it. They both use the same core(G92b).

Currently I am stuck between the 9800gtx+ and the gts 250, but I am leaning towards the 9800gtx+. What do you guys think?

I would get a 250 myself, but it really makes no difference. Its just a bios flash;). Even the last models of the 9800GTX+ only had one PCIe power connector with a shorter PCB. Some joker at Nvidia just decided to move them into the lower end 200 series (hence GTS instead of GTX) Kinda dumb to me. If they wanted to do that they should have renamed the 9800GT the GS250. But then again the 9800GT is just a renamed 8800GT. Hell even the 9600GSO was a renamed 8800GS. Somebody in Nvidia needs to be smacked up the side of there head:D

Kinda retarded that nvidia does this... You'd think the newer card would be better... guess that's the whole scam then..=/
