Help With My Laptop

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my question, but I have a problem with my Dell Inspiration 1505 Laptop.

I bought it in the summer of 2006. Whenever I turn it on it flashes the Dell logo and than the screen just goes blank. It will stay at the blank screen for hours.

My warranty ran out a year or so ago, how much would it cost to fix my laptop?

Or do any of you guys know what's wrong with it and know how to fix it?

Here's a video of me turning on my laptop.

THANK YOU:)

Probably just a software problem. Do you have a copy of Windows XP (or whatever OS is loaded on that machine). If so, try booting to it. Insert the CD and while the Dell logo is up, press F12. This should bring up the boot menu. Select the optical drive and let it boot. From here, you should do a system repair...

I don't have a copy of WIndows XP on a cd.

Can I download it somewhere?

How can I do that since my screen goes blank right after the Dell logo flashes?

You should select the CD/DVD-ROM as the first boot device either in bios or just accessing the boot menu (someone above mentioned you can access it by pressing F12)

Then, after the Dell logo flashes, the PC will load the CD instead of the HDD which it cant load due to some problem which causes your screen to go blank.

When the dell logo flashes it should say in the bottom corner to press F4 or esc for boot menu or something like that. Press the button repeatedly until the boot menu shows up. Select your cd/dvd drive and click enter.

So nothing would happen if there isn't a cd in the drive?

Because I'm still downloading the Hirens Boot CD. 9 minutes left.:)

HELP

I have no idea how to burn the file to a cd?

It was a zip file so I extracted it to my desktop.

And the 5 files below the zip file popped up.

How do I burn that to a cd?

So I turned on my laptop and put the cd into the drive. Than I pressed F12 and than I selected CD/DVD-ROM. My laptop made some noises and than the screen tunred blank.

WHat do I do from there?

Hmm, did you burn the disc properly? Test it in Windows if possible.
Try entering bios and set the 1st boot device to your CD/DVD-ROM.
