Mainly because prolimatech knows people want different sorts of fans(quiet vs. high airflow, LED vs non, etc) on the heatsink, and therefore to keep costs down dont include one because many people would change it anyhow.you can get a converter for AM2 and AM3 sockets

dead easy to use, just put the backplate on, screw the top on aswell, put the heatsink on, put the bar across, screw the bar down with 2 screws and you are doneUsed it on my friends AM3 system when I built it for him, he is on about overclocking it to atleast 4GHz (he has phenom II x4 965 BE)
You buy the fan seperately. Oddly enough, it comes with fan clips, but no fan. If you have enough airflow in your case already though, it will cool it just fine, not as well as a dedicated fan on there, but still well
I'm probably going to get one of these soon.
It should be quite an improvement over my Noctua. :good:
