Two or three times my computer has been measured to be overheating really bad. I have left my computer on and then left for about an hour to two hours. When I come back the computer seems to be off. I try to turn it on but it will not work. I turn off the power supply and turn it back on and it will turn on. When I boot up into windows it is really slow and when I run fanspeed it says the core temp was around 83C and the temp1 was around 50 something. I have touched the cpu heatsink one time and been burned pretty. This never happens when the computer is on though. I can play games and have the computer running the entire day with no problems. It just when I come back and its off, its overheating. I shut it down for about 15 minutes and it is running at a good temperature. Im not sure whats causing this but the only thing that might be a problem is that I am using a 10 pin 500 watt powersupply in a 12 pin slot without the other pin plugged in. I read that it powers the on board video which I am not using. I am also using the stock fan. Any help would be great.
