Computer case question

Okay, so there's a lot of really nice "custom" computer cases out there. But I'm looking to custom make my own, because I have some ideas for better cooling that I just plain don't see out there. But I don't want to build a case from complete scratch. So I'm thinking that if I could find the "innards" so to speak of a computer (think drive bays, power supply bays, motherboard holder, etc.) without buying an entire case and wasting money and material on things I don't need or want, I'd be able to build the outer case myself the way I want.

The problem with this theory is that I don't have the first clue of where to *get* the innards to a case without buying the whole thing. At least not where I have enough, properly sized bays. Any ideas where I might be able to find something like that?

Old cases and bits at junk heaps or recycle computer shops!!!
You will have to cannibalise cases for starters and the cost most likely prohibitive.
You have no clue to where you want to start....Sounds like your project is doomed to failure.

Best of luck.

What case are you modding... ??

Alot of the newer cases have good airflow, cable managment, and awesome styling.... so it is hard to compete when modding an older case.... but it can be fun... :)

Have a look at the Cooler Master HAF 932 or Antec 1200. They are really good with plenty of airflow and loads of space.
