couldn't you borrow your PSU from your sig rig to test if your mobo works??

Based on my google research, in 2005 intel still had a few 478 boards out but the mainstream was the 775.

Well, the board has no PCI-Express or AGP, and no SATA. I'm guessing it was 478.

The motherboard in my P4 System is 20Pin. Plus, My sig rig uses a proprietary PSU and Don't want to mess up the already messy cabling inside it.
 
yes, it was definately 478 then.

If your just holding off for the bulldozer and looking for a passive holdover, I'd be willing to sell you my HP (your choice 3.06 Celeron-D or 2.53 P-4) that has AGP and PCI that works.
 
I'd rather just replace parts. It will probably come out to be $250 if I replace parts, though.

I could build a sempron system for probably... $350 If It was bare minimum.
 
Asus P4LD. It's a propitiatory HP board built by Asus. Has support for hyper threading and 800 MHZ FSB max. Also Up to 400 DDR ram with 4 GB max.

its 60 for the whole computer minus the HDD's.
 
Honestly, My main goal was just to get the machine in working order.

That means a new HSF, PSU, and case. Maybe a motherboard.

PSU and Case would cost about $120 If I cheaped out.

The 478 Motherboard newegg has (as well as the one Tiger Direct has) is $52

HSF... I don't know

possibly ram. If I change my motherboard to the other one, I will need DDR2.
But I currently have two 256MB sticks of DDR 400 in it.
 
How old was it? The old Basiq line was built by FSP, and they were fairly mediocre, butt he new ones are built by Delta.

An Antec Neo ECO/Earthwatts or Seasonic SS/S12II would be a good choice, too. Be aware though that the SS psu's are OEM-only...they don't come with the power cable. Otherwise they're damned good deals, though. The higher wattage ones are actually M12D-based...not sure about the lower wattage ones.
 
Bulldozer sounds interesting. From what I hear, the chips will have 47 cores and be hypertension threaded.They still won't play Crysis on high though.

i hope that was a joke 47 cores is not happening and crysis from what i hear is only coded well for two cores, so that statement is unfounded.

total $231.96 without shipping, you can get a better gpu if you need it, or you can cut costs by changing the ram. I'm just going to check that mobo has the chance of unlocking the sempron to a dual core.
