+1The best browser is the one that fits your needs. If it has everything you need then use that one.Do not use some The Best Browser just because many people like it lol.Just use The One that is good to You.The hell with others lol.
I've tried all of the "big 5" browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera
IE is the "template" browser, IMO. Nothing great, nothing too bad.
I used to use Firefox as my main browser. I like it because it's run by Mozilla, which is non-profit. IMO, it's the "toolbox" browser. You can get a lot of different toolbars, and it's very much a browser for those that like to do all the nerdy stuff with their browser. I recommend that you download Firefox 4 beta. It might fix your crashing problem:

Chrome is the what I consider to be the best browser when it comes to interface usability. It's clean, customizable, and has features like sync, a built in pdf reader that's better than Adobe's, and an auto-updating built-in flash plugin. Ever since I got my CR-48, I've used Chrome.
Safari is Apple's IE. 'Nuff said.
Opera is another one of my favs. It's ridiculously sleek and fast, so if you want raw performance and basic, clean usability, get Opera.
Happy browser-comparing!
EDIT: just read your last post. I'm guessing that FF was crashing due to viruses. Download Avast:

Run a scan. If it asks you to do a boot-time scan, say yes. Make sure to register, schedule scans, and disable the sounds you don't want (eg. "avast updated!") If you already have a paid antivirus, then either update it or uninstall it. IMO, Avast is the best free antivirus, although I haven't tried Avira. If you have another free antivirus that you like, then it's your choice whether to switch to Avast.
