Will an inspiron 1521 battery work in an inspiron 1525?

I'm not quite sure why you have two of the same thread? You should have deleted the wrong thread before making a new one.

"If it fits it should work."

I'm not sure this is the best advice. I'm certainly no expert on laptop batteries but I think it could potentially cause a problem. Different batteries have different charge requirements and such. Do you want to take a chance with your expensive laptop?

It's an Inspiron. They're all designed the same with the same power requirements.

Honestly, if it fits in exactly right, that means the laptop was probably designed for that battery, so yeah, I would risk it.

I think you assume too much.

I think that you assume that I assume too much. Dell has many interchangeable parts. I have a Latitude E6500 that uses a PA-3E power adapter, but I can still power any other Dell with it, as well as use other power adapters like a PA-10 with my Latitude. Batteries work the same way. If it fits and has the same power ratings on it, then it'll work; but with almost every Dell, if the battery fits, then it should work.

Why not just buy that battery? It'd be pretty cheap from eBay I would think.

I wouldn't trust an ebay battery. They're flukey a lot of the time. I've gotten one before and it actually caught on fire. It's better to get a genuine battery from Dell.

Remind me again why you think you need an external charger? Is the laptop not charging?

That is it exactly the laptop won't charge the battery, won't even run without the battery even while plugged in. But when it is plugged in the battery indicator says the battery has an enormous amount of hours, now the hours are running down, less than 50 and I need to recharge the battery.

So it turns on with the battery plugged in, but not without?

Makes me think your DC jack might be bad.

been buying ebay batteries for 4 years now and one has yet to fail, and i live in florida so i make sure i don't live the laptop in car or somewhere where it might get hot fast.

though also check ebay they will have pretty cheap battery original compare to the dell site.

also i've recently found amazon having few of them for cheaper than ebay.
