The computer is actually a 1525
According to this website: BatteryOffice, the batteries are different sizes so I doubt they can be interchanged.
I'm not quite sure why you have two of the same thread? You should have deleted the wrong thread before making a new one.
Well if that's true, then no. But just pop it in. If it fits it should work.
"If it fits it should work."
I'm not sure this is the best advice. I'm certainly no expert on laptop batteries but I think it could potentially cause a problem. Different batteries have different charge requirements and such. Do you want to take a chance with your expensive laptop?
I think you assume too much. It's an Inspiron. They're all designed the same with the same power requirements.

Why not just buy that battery? It'd be pretty cheap from eBay I would think.
That is it exactly the laptop won't charge the battery, won't even run without the battery even while plugged in. But when it is plugged in the battery indicator says the battery has an enormous amount of hours, now the hours are running down, less than 50 and I need to recharge the battery.
I wouldn't trust an ebay battery. They're flukey a lot of the time. I've gotten one before and it actually caught on fire. It's better to get a genuine battery from Dell.
