Advice on new processor?

I have decided its time to built a new computer and need some help getting started. I need some advice for a new CPU and motherboard that are slightly overkill for what I currently use them for, which is 2 WOWs same time(maxed settings) as well as a few web browsers and no lag at all. My current setup no longer allows for those basic uses and to run it quick and easy.

Currently running-
Intel core 2 6300 1.87ghz
2gb ram
GeForce 7600GT 256MB
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX
500w Power supply

So for starters I will be going Intel, no AMD. Unless I'm wrong I have heard great things about the Intel I5 and I7, but my questions start flying when I need to pick one as there are many options for both. Budget is not too much of a worry but I will not be buying the best out there. Im looking for midline to good.

So which processor do you recommend and why? also which MB would be a great match for the CPU.

Thanks a bunch I really appreciate it.

If you want to wait until around June 30th AMD is going to release its new AM3+ processor line.

If you do not want to wait that long I would look at the below motherboard and processor. The Sandy Bridge processor line is very powerful.

GIGABYTE GA-P67A-D3-B3 Socket LGA 1155 Intel P67 Motherboard - $118

Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3 gigahertz (3.7 gigahertz Turbo Boost) Socket LGA 1155 Quad-Core Processor - $225

Off topic, but does anyone know what the price range for the Bulldozers is gonna be?

Nobody really knows yet, depends on its performance which isnt know yet either. Plus there will be a range of processors too. At first they will release four. One 4 core, one 6 core and two 8 cores.

The I5 2500k is upper mid range, beast of a CPU. You could go I7 2600k for even more futureproofing if you have the money.

I suggest this motherboard though for a 2500k-

Or this one for the 2600k-

Bulldozer will only ''compete'' with sandy bridge, it will not be better. Later this year Intel will be releasing 22nm cpu's....AMD is too far behind to catch up at this point.

It's a highly educated guess.

I never advise people to ''wait'' until something else comes out. It's just stupid, you'd be waiting until the end of time because new stuff is coming out every couple months. Just build with whats good and available now makes the most sense.

But some of us AMD guys do not mind waiting. :)
I think the Zambezi line of processors is going to be worth waiting for. It is only about a 45 day wait anyway and that is not long.

So its a guess, not a fact as stated?

So waiting a few weeks for a (new) architecture is stupid? I underrstand that as a general statement but in this case your statement is stupid.

Should I copy and paste my answer too?

Yes it is. Few more weeks, there will be another CPU coming out....even within the same architecture, other improvements will be made or there will be new features added that make it better than the first released CPU's.

Next thing you know, you'll be saying to wait a few more weeks to get some reviews of bulldozer to see how it compares before buying. It's an endless cycle....wait for this to come out....wait for that.....etc etc. Just BUY now OMG. If you have the funds, you aren't going to be disapointed with sandy bridge. If you are still saving and buying a system right now would be tight, sure wait a few weeks and continue to save while waiting for some reviews to be better educated on a decision. But again as stated, there's no way you are going to be disappointed with a sandy bridge purchase...they are FAST cpu's.
