2.5" HDD External Western Digital Elements SE 500GB

Internal HDD Picture above.

Ok so the drive stopped working, what are these drives are classified as.
And what are those 12 pins on the left.

That looks like a mini-IDE connection.

But there is a USB port also,so would the drive work by just plugging in the USB port or IDE would also be necessary.
I did not take the drive apart so did not know whether the external case was also connected to the mini IDE or not.

It looks rather too large to be micro USB to me, must be more zoomed in that I am grasping.

It is a micro usb I am pretty sure since my Blackberry cable is a perfect fit.
It is zoomed a lot,try seeing it in contrast to my fingernail :D

Yeah that looks way to big to be micro USB, the camera perspective must be throwing me off. There must be a chip on the drive's PCB to change from USB to ATA. I don't know what those 12 pins on the left are, possibly jumper pins but I'm just guessing.

Here's the product page, I didn't find much on it though.

That is definitely micro usb trust me on that atleast guys, since I plugged in a micro usb cable and it was a perfect fit and drive in case the external interface was also micro usb, As I already stated I did not disassemble the drive so am not sure about the nature of connectivity between the drive and the case.

Guys its a 500GB Drive,I can't let it go to waste.
Does some one has any leads, what converter would I be needing??
