Anyone tried out the new Star Wars mmo?

I have been thinking about picking up the new star wars the old republic game and was wondering how it is from someone who is actually playing. I heard it has a lot of options for solo play is that true? Because I tend to go solo a lot in wow due to i don't play often enough to stay in a guild or what not for long.

I'd love some personal feedback as well. But it seems, even though this has been one of the most hyped games of the year and nearly everyone has said they were going to give it a try, that no one really has.
At least, based on the last thread about this. I don't know. I'm prepared to just let my ex get it for me next week as she is so desperate to get my a birthday present.

Im a massive star wars fan. but i dunno, this mmorpg just didnt tickle my taste buds, not to mention im not really into the genre in the first place. Onloy rpg's i like are singleplayer ones like divine divinity and the ff series.

I'm not bragging when I say, yes I am. It actually gets annoying when you break up and the girl just won't leave you alone...worse when every girl does that.

The official ratings are pretty good for it. Pretty much, if you like WoW and you like Star Wars, this is for you.

thats why i dont want to play this. if ive already paid to get the CD, why would i have to keep paying just so i can login and play for a few hours? :p

No body does. That's why they log in and play for several hours. You know how in single player games you rack up 12 hours, 20 hours, 4 days, 2 weeks, worth of game time? People in WoW, on one character have over a year of game play. You get your money's worth.

yeah true, but i still dont see why Blizzard want to make us pay for a game that gets very repetitive quickly. it is a good game nevertheless but i just dont see the use in pay2play

I presume its all about competition, haveing the edge over people :p. Buy this get this perk. Buy that play this payed for only arena etc.

Its good buisness.

its pretty bloody expensive too, 45 quid plus 8 quid a month? no thanks. Im not too bothered about it, seems to me that people love it cause its star wars. But some feedback would be great!

People pay it, and as long as people pay it, there is no reason to stop charging it. Blizzard wants money like everyone else.

true. i would pay for SWTOR but just dont want to think can i afford this and this at the end of the month.

Will there be a monthly fee for this game? (or will you have to pay for "time" per say?) Haven't heard too much about it...

Yes there is subscription charge, it is an MMO and not like Guild Wars where you pay then play, and not a full free to play with micro transactions.

From what I have heard (not played it) it is very good, but just another reskinned Wow clone once you peel away the Star Wars exterior

exactly, people have been blinded by the whole 'OMFGSTARWARS' so they dont see it as another wow clone. Personally I am looking forward to Guild Wars 2 this year, looks pretty awesome and hopefully isnt a wow clone

Played in beta and followed it since it was announced. It's basically a single player mmo wow clone with some multiplayer aspects.
