Windows freezing...etc

So I recently got a new rig and its been freezing at times, first i thought it was my expired windows xp then i upgraded to windows 7 pro and still problems occur. What i have been experiencing is sometimes when i boot my system the part where it gives me motherboard information it loads really slow, then it goes to the windows 7 logo with the rainbow stuff coming in, the rainbow stuff sometimes takes a couple minutes to appear, then another thing is when it gives me the prompt to put in my password for my user it freezes but i can still move the mouse. Then in my actual user windows sometimes some application would take forever to load even though i have a solid state drive, for example google chrome would take forever to load then i would push cntrl alt delete and that would take a good couple mintues to actually pop up. Ill tell you my specs and my settings in bios

CPU: intel i7 2600k stock

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM (my bios defaulty set up it as regular at timings i think 9 or 10, so i had to put profile1 to get better timings)

Hardrive: Corsair force 3 120gb SSD ( I updated it to the recent firmware)

Motherboard:Gigabyte z68xp-UD4 ( i set up AHCI for the SSD)

Graphics card: Geforce gtx 570 superclocked.

Any additional information you might need to better help me please just ask.

You got some good stuff there... But it does sound like something's going bad...

Download and run memtest. One pass is usually enough, but best if you could let it run overnight to confirm no errors.

Have you benchmarked the SSD? You might want to try that and confirm it's running at correct speeds.

Also, what controller are you using? Some SATA3 controllers can be rather flakey. It might be worth trying your SATA2 controller...

What is memtest? And ill benchmark with crystaldisk and let you know. I running right now on sata3. So can i just change the sata cable and put it in sata2? will i need to change any other settings?

It is NOT because of low space.I have only 500 MB of free space left and it works perfectly.

0. Load BIOS optimal defaults and save it to CMOS.
1. Test your RAM using MEMTEST.
2. Check the drive for errors and correct them using CHKDSK in SAFE MODE with COMMAND PROMPT:

chkdsk.exe C: /F /R /X /V

3. Defragment the HDD.
4. Clean all invalid registry entries using Eusing Free Registry Cleaner.

Report back with the results!

By the way does the HDD led lights up ALL the time even when you are not doing anything?
And also how big is your CPU and PF usage?

Cheers!

Thanks for for the reply stars. Alright MEMTEST might not work on my system because i tried every version of secure erase and it couldnt run on my system which might also be caused by the ram if its defective in any way. Here is an update with secure erase before i installed a new OS. But i ended up using KILLdisk. what is CHKDSK btw? Ill do what you told me and report back. My HDD led lights dont show up at all because there is something wrong with the wire for the LED lights on the case itself, and it wasnt a major problem so i didnt pursue replacing the case. What is PF usage? Ill use cntrl alt delete to check my CPU usage and also get back to you. Thanks for all your help.

The more data one fills their hard drive with, the slower the drive gets. I like to try to keep my hard drives below more than 60 percent capacity. A drive can really slow down if it gets filled to more than 75 percent capacity.

Did you try reversing the hdd led connector? Thats usually why the light doesn't work is because negative and positive is reversed.

I had this experience my ssd is not compatible with my computer as a boot disk. the symtom is the same as the OP descriped. When I use a different hard drive with the computer, it has no problem at all. When I use the ssd in a different computer it work perfectly. It actually give a new life to the old computer. I suggest you take that ssd and put it in a different computer to try to see if work and use a different hard drive in your computer to see if that is the problem.
Just a thought.
Cheers.

Kind of took a long time to fix this issue because of finals and stuff but now i have the time so here are my results. I rank Memtest and i passed the but i didnt not leave it overnight i will tonight. I also Ran Chkdsk on my SSD, thats the only Drive i have at the moment. Here are some pics. But this freezeing/lag problem still persists. Also about my low SSD speeds. did i set up the AHCI right the bios? because it says eSata and GSata it still says Sata do i need to change those to AHCI too? Is there anyway to check if im running AHCI in windows?

Edit: Also i checked some reviews and i heard there is a lot more you need to do besides chenge that one bios setting to AHCI. i think thats why im getting slow speeds...

I am beginning to suspect the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 motherboard is your problem. I was reading thru the reviews many people have written about that main board. It appears that some solid state drives have problems running with the motherboard. You may want to try just normal hard disk drives with that board to see if the problem goes away.

Solid State Drives pretty much will destroy most hard disk drives any day in performance. This hard drive looks decent. The technology does look good but the price is ridiculous like most hard drives presently.

I do not want to buy a new hard drive until prices come down about 40 percent.
