The back plate will come with whatever aftermarket heatsink you get if its a good one. Otherwise you'll have to find one that just screws in to the existing holes, something like one of these.

Do you have a 3pin or 4pin connection on the motherboard for the cpu cooler?
However, at idle, the 965 should be around 42 degrees C if thermal compound was placed correctly. Is there dust in the cooling fan? That will drastically reduce cooling efficiency.

Or can't I just buy an AMD backplate bc I have the one they sent with the phenom II which to me seems pretty nice? But my only concern is will the backplate even work with my motherboard in the pic above u can see what I'm working with which some people say looks like a intel, so do I need to buy an intel cooler with backplate or what? Would like to go cheapest route and it seems toe the cheapest would be to buy the amd backplate and use the one they sent me, but I don't know what I'm doing so I just wanna be sure if I do that the backplate will mount and work with my motherboard
