CPU Upgrade worth it?

Currently running a
Intel E8400 C2D @ 3.5Ghz
ASUS P5G41T-M LX Plus Mobo

This is paired with a ASUS GTX560 and 4GB DDR3 Ram.
I can game fine (Most games on ultra), but I do a lot of VM work, and the CPU just can't handle multiple ones at a time that well.
I don't have a lot of money to spend and won't be able to do a signifigant upgrade until later next year. In the meantime I was considering getting a
AMD Athlon II x4 631 and this mobo:
ASRock A55 PRO3 FM1 AMD A55

According to CPU benchmark, it's about a double in the performance area, or at least it seems. I'm a Intel fanboy, so I know nothing about AMD CPU's. Is it worth the upgrade? Also, how well does this thing overclock, if at all?

Thanks.

looked on ebay a few mins ago and there were actually some deals on the qx6700 and q6600, could just look at that, otherwise i would go for an am3+ or 1155 system, not an fm1. Even a fx should be fine, especially after a good overclock.an i3 or even a pentium would do great.

A q6600 is barely a upgrade from a overclocked e8400.
I can't afford a 1155 system, or I would be buying a 2500K. This CPU and mobo will cost around ~150 total. A i3 2100 new alone is around 120 right? This is my best bang for buck. I'll only be using it for 6ish months anyway, then i can upgrade to that 2500K. I need something to use right now though.
