problem with new build, please help

You can try using the 20 pin psu to test the motherboard. The 20 pin connector will fit in a 24pin connection.

So try using the PSU from my older PC in the system ?
I'm not sure if it has enough Wattage just for the motherboard and CPU. And it's probebly a cheap PSU I don't want to damage the CPU. Also I don't think the PSU has an 8 Pin motherboard connecter, just the 4 pin.

Yeah, if its a real cheap one then don't chance it. Do you know of anyone that has a spare? Have you tried resetting the cmos yet as well?

I have access to a multi meter. I know someone who has one and I can borrow it?
Any good guides on how to test the PSU with the multi merer ?

I checked the old PSU and its a 300watt lite one PSU with a 24pin motherboard connector but only a 4 pin "cpu" connector. Will it work like that ?

So I took everything out of the case. I tried powering up with just the CPU and Heatsink installed on a cardboard box and it still didn't power up. Nothing at all even though the green LED light on the motherboard is still glowing. What can I do now ?

Anyone ? Desperately need help.

Just readin that did u slot in ram when u tested that and just with 1 stick of ram after testing with both the ram?

Edit;
if it is only 2 weeks old id rather try RMAing the board.... I had very similar problem a few weeks ago on my GA z77 board and after replacing it with another board it worked again....i also thought it was bad psu (it very well could be) and i bought the meter to check psu and was fine....

Your problem seems to be exactly same as mine few weeks ago.... I really would RMA your board OR check PSU first to make sure...
The faulty board i had was GA Z77 UD3H and i was using it for a good 2 month before it went bad....

Also, on your bad board, did the standby led light up when psu was plugged in ?
Cheers for the help

RMA just means u return the product to the place where u bought it for a full refund or replacement most of the places have 1 month RMA from the date u placed the order....
It stands for Return Merchandise Authorization

I tried a known working PSU and the motherboard still wouldn't power so I guess its the motherboard. I guess Ill have to send it back which causes alot of problems.

Will both my SSD and HDD still work by just simply connecting them to the new motherboard ?
My windows version was the oem 1 pc version, so do I have o buy a new windows code ?
Should I get a refund and get a different board or just get a replacement ?

Do you have the OS on disk? Most likely you will have to reinstall your OS.

Your SSD and HDD will work on the new mobo provided that they have the same interface IE, SATA and PCIe.
