Wouldn't bother with the Trident RAM, just get RipJaws-X 1600MHz or 1866MHz.

Might want to go with a CX 600 just to give yourself some headroom.

Otherwise looks fine.
 
+1 on the RAM, it's not worth going for 2400MHz IMO, the money spend would go into upgrading the GPU or something that could make better use of the money.

Regarding the display, you should be good. Anything from reliable brands like Samsung or Asus should suit you well, and for $100-150 that looks like a great display.
 
For anouther $25 would it be worth getting this

either one will be perfectly fine. The 7870GHz is slightly more powerful than a 6970, which means not very powerful at all, but should be fine.

What kind of speakers are you using? If you have anything half decent, then you need a good sound card. If you are running basic Logitech, or any sub $100 2.1/5.1 speakers, then you will never hear the difference between a good sound card and the junk that comes on the motherboard.

Also getting windows 7 home premium (64bit) is a good idea? I won't ever have more than 16 GB of ram for a while. So would programs still work on there or are people going to always make windows 8 compatible. I'm talking about games.
 
all windows 7 options will work. I don't know about the super key (that is what you call the "windows key", but I assume so.
 
OK because I got a new keyboard that you have to use the program to program the macro keys. Yeah the key that brings up the panel with shutdown, programs etc.
