Mysterious driver missing Johnb?????

Hi guys, I am trying to get my Brother laser printer configured in my new (used) Win 7 computer. Everything shows OK, there is a green checkmark in the device driver but it still shows as offline. But in the device manager it shows that another driver is missing. It names the device as MPC which is the brand of the computer and it identifies the component as "computer". I went to the MPC website and it says you should run a diagnostic program. Yeah sure! I downloaded the trial version of the diagnostic program, did a scan and it says I have a trial version on almost everything in the computer including my memory chips.
So I printed the report on my inkjet printer that turned out to be 67 pages long.
It doesn't tell me a darn thing. Nothing flagged as to what driver is missing, nothing indicated that anything is amiss. But no matter what I do, the laser printer is still offline. I hooked up this printer to my old computer before I transferred my files and it worked like a charm so there is nothing wrong with the printer.

Some other missing driver is preventing the computer from recognizing the laser printer.
Johnb???? can you help????
:D
Thanks
V

Not trying to be funny, but when mine says offline, its actually turned off. What model number is this conputer? What model of Laser printer

Can you give us a screenshot of the device manager? What ever you downloaded is most likely malware or bogus so please uninstall it.

Hi guys, Yes, I am sure it is turned on and has a green "go" light showing ready.
Johnb, if the diagnostic program is a malware program, my anti-virus didn't catch it as it usually does.
I have the screen shot but I can't figure out how to get the URL to insert it in this posting. Senior timeout, I guess.

Ooops I forgot to answer the questions. the printer is a laser Brother printer. HL-5340DW

How do you post a photo on here without a hosting program like Photobucket? I understand you can't see the photos very well that way.

Hi Guys, It's taken me 3 days to finally get the screen shots saved and posted. Here's what has happened. I installed a 500 gig HD and with searching for drivers etc. I no longer have that strange missing driver message. But for some reason the computer isn't seeing the new HD. It is in the device manager but not in the My Computer section. And the Brother laser printer is still showing offline even though it is on and the green ready light shows green. The document goes to the printer but it just doesn't want to print.

I disabled the unknown device and that's when the warning in the devices disappeared. I don't know what the disabled device could be. It was there before I installed the HD.
There are no jumpers on the new HD so I don't think that is a factor???

Johnb could you do a diagnostic for me?

Your URL's are bad. I'm getting an error.

If it's a new hard drive you installed, you need to go into Disk Management and format the drive.

As far as the unknown device goes, give me some info on it and i'll give you the driver for it.

Go into device manager, right click on the unknown device and click on properties, then click on the details tab, change the property to hardware id and then give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. Example.

ven_xxxx dev_yyyy

Voyager, I went to disk management but couldn't figure out how to format the drive. What are the steps?
Johnb The unknown device appears to be ACPI\IFX0101 then underneath is *IFX0101
Is that the right number you need?
Thanks guys for helping me. Sorry about the URLS. I have been working for 3 days trying to get the screen shots saved. They keep wanting to be saved under MTHL and then are therefore not there in My pictures to access them to be able to post. I saved them as JPGS and according to the properties, those are the URLS. This is above my pay grade if you know what I mean.

You'll need a driver that is labeled tpm at the computer makers website. What is the make and model number of your pc?

Voyager, I went to disk management but couldn't figure out how to format the drive. What are the steps?

Right click on the unpartitioned space. Select New Volume. Follow the wizard to format the drive (quick format) as NTFS file system and label it whatever you want.

Boy I am having all kinds of trouble posting. I answered your posts but the next thing I knew it wasn't there anymore. Sorry.
Voyager, I went to the disc management but I couldn't find how to format the unknown drive. What are the steps?
John B, As near as I can tell, the code is ACPI\IFX0101 and underneath is *IFX0101. Does this sound like what you need?
Thanks for your help, guys.
Trying again with the screen shots.

I gave you the steps in my last post.

Right click on the unpartitioned space. Select New Volume. Follow the wizard to format the drive (quick format) as NTFS file system and label it whatever you want.

In case that's not thorough enough for you, see this:
1. Click Start.

2. Right-click Computer, then click Manage. The "Computer Management" window will open.

3. In the left pane, click Disk Management (under Storage). If your disk is not initialized (as is sometimes the case with brand-new drives), you’ll be prompted to initialize it. If your disk is 2TB or more in size, select GPT; otherwise, stick with MBR.

A list of all connected disk drives is displayed in the center. Unpartitioned drives appear with solid black bars and the label "Unallocated." Partitioned drives appear with solid blue bars and a drive letter.

If your drive isn't partitioned, follow these instructions to partition it. Otherwise, skip down to the next section.

1. Right-click the black bar or the unallocated white space below it and select New Simple Volume… In this case, "Volume" is another term for "partition".

2. Click Next. To create a single, whole-drive partition, make sure the "Simple volume size in MB" value is the same as the "Maximum disk space in MB" value. Click Next.

3. Assign a drive letter of your choice. Click Next.

4. Select Format this volume. For File System, choose NTFS if you’ll be using the drive only with Windows machines. If you will be sharing the information on the drive with Macs, choose exFAT. Keep Allocation unit size at Default. Choose a name for the partition under Volume label. Do not select Perform a quick format or Enable file and folder compression. Click Next.

5. Confirm your selections and click Finish.

Voyager, I did a search and found the instructions on how to initialize the HD. It partitioned it and assigned drive F which is fine with me. Do I still need to format it though before I start moving my old files over to it?

Laser printer still showing offline and will not accept a document pending anymore.

If you've already assigned a drive letter then it should be formatted already. Do you see it in Computer? If so then it's already formatted.

I don't know what's going on, but I have answered this post several times and it is never there when I sign back in.????

Boy do I feel like a stupid jerk. I found the postings. Sorry about that. I think I'm ready for the HOME.
Voyager, yes, the HD is showing in My Computer. Thanks for all the help on that.
John B, Computer mfgr website is practically out of business. The only thing they give you is their client-partners one of which is that diagnostic program that told me nothing. You have to buy a driver program to obtain any drivers. Computer is MPC-Client PRO 365, maybe connected with Gateway. There's not much help in their forum either. They talk about a TPM Trusted Platform Module but you have to go into the bios or something to fix it and the posting person said they couldn't find anything in the bios that helped. So what do you think, bite the bullet and pay the $30 for the driver program?
