Hi all,
My 5870 is on eBay and has some bids on it already so it is going to sell - so now I'm thinking about what to replace my 5870 with.
I'm going back to NVIDIA mainly for the CUDA support because I use my PC for things like Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and SpeedGrade - all of which are GPU accelerated and use CUDA - so I want to make sure I get a card which will do that.
Gaming performance is less important because I don't play many games but it would be nice to have a card powerful enough to play games in case I ever did get back into it.
I was looking at the GTX 750 Ti because it was cheap but I'm now looking at 760s instead because they are a bit more powerful and have more CUDA cores (1,152 vs 640).
I'm trying to decide between the 2GB or the 4GB GTX 760. I only edit 1080p video now so I think 2GB of V-RAM would be fine, but looking into the future 4GB would ideal for higher res video such as 2K or 4K footage and of course if I ever upgraded to a higher resolution monitor then the extra V-RAM will help me out.
I can get the 2GB for £170 and the 4GB for £200 - do you think it's worth spending the extra £30?
As a side note, I'm hearing rumours suggesting that the new cards are coming out in Q4 at some time. I won't be buying until the end of the month anyway, but Photoshop is pretty much unusable on my integrated graphics so I don't think I can wait long enough for the new cards!
