Nvidia 970 VRAM Class Action Lawsuit - $30/Card

I submitted a claim once on a class-action regarding RAM, I completely forgot about it and nearly 2 years later I got this thing in the mail that I was approved as part of the settlement and got a cheque for $20

Nice, I got one of those a couple weeks ago for like $50. Seemed pretty tempted to throw it into more RAM :P

This just adds to what I thought already. So many people have been buying 970s and I did my research and it's not even really any better, in some ways worse in fact, than my 770. In fact for the longest time the 970 and 770 were the same price. The only card that seems to be worth buying as an upgrade is a 1070, because statistically it's way better. The only advantage to the 970 was the extra vram (mine has 2gb), directx 12 ready which hasn't been put in use yet, and some kind of HDMI feature. Game performance wise it's not much better than my card.

What on earth are you talking about? Seems like half of the posts I see from you are about how good 770's are in 2016. Yeah they still do alright but you really need to get your facts straight. The 970 blows it clean out of the water.

If you want longevity out of a card you're using the wrong brand anyway.

lol. I guess I'm just surprised at how well an old as fart card does. I guess I was wrong I looked at a few comparisons and they said they were close to the same. Thanks for the correction.

What I don't understand is the fact that the 970 came out in September of 2014 and the whole 3.5GB circus started in January 2015. So for 4 months no one noticed the memory issue? Not even the reviewers? lol

Because it wasn't really an issue. Infact it was hardly an issue for anyone. People are just making it an issue because they wanted to.

The performance impact is pretty much non existent. That doesn't really make it acceptable though from a marketing and business standpoint. Pretty much straight false advertising.

And it makes a good joke. I rate 3.5/4
